505 World Championship for the first time in Poland!

The best sailors in the world who sail on 505 dinghies in two years will show up in Gdynia. The city and the Polish 505 Class Association have received permission to host this prestigious regatta in 2018!
It is a decision of the 505 International Class Association, which was made during the 505 World Championships in Weymouth. Among other locations Gdynia received largest support from 505 sailors to host such an event in 2018.  

- In Gdynia we have hosted the prestigious international sailing events for several times. This time we are pleased to host 505 class, strongly connected with our city. Gdynia, Polish Sailing capital in 2018 has a chance to become the sailing capital of the world. We will do our best that competitors could feel great and appreciate both great sailing conditions and great atmosphere on the shore - says Wojciech Szczurek, mayor of Gdynia.

Polish 505 Class Association sought to privilege the organization of the regatta world-class for some time. For several years we could see sailors from other European countries sailing at the Polish 505 Championships. The rapid development of the class in Poland has been noticed internationally. Thanks to work of Polish 505 sailors 505 class has become one of the most popular racing dinghies in the country.

- For us the possibility of hosting World Championship is a great pleasure and recognition of 10 years of work on the popularity of the 505 class in Poland. We have focus on great atmosphere during the every regatta in Poland, regardless the sailing skills. Each year we have new crews.
