Sunday belonged to Mike Holt and Rob Woelfel - the won Day One. Then we had two days of very light wind but extremely sunny though. Tim Hancock, the Race Officer decided on Monday to postpone the races one hour. The crews left the marina in hope for the wind to get stronger however after another 90mins of waiting on water, everyone got back. But it actually did not influence the good humour of the competitors...Instead, they had their own regatta racing home on spinnakers with 2,5 knots, paddling or being towed home by the Committee's ribs.
As it turned out, Tuesday welcomed us with a replay of the weather conditions... With plenty of time on water, all 505sailors had the possibility to rest a little in the shade of 127 sails times two...
But this time the organisers of the SAP505Worlds2018 had a reward the the brave and the patient. All competitors together with family and friends met at a MidWay Party held on a terrace of the Museum of the Polish Navy. Some decided to join later as they stayed on the beach to watch the Night Race from there. We invited all crews U25 to take part in these spectacular races. We had seven boats on water with their crew while the helmsmen were to run from the start line on the beach to get to the boat, race and then run back to the finish line. The boats were beautifully lit, we all cheered, from the beach as well as form the terrace of the restaurant. Bas and Toon Van Asschen, BEL8898, were the fastest!
The SAP505Worlds2018 end on Friday, 27th, July. Then we will find out who is the World 505 Champion 2018.
Wednesday planned primarily as Lay Day turned into a Racing Day as the wind finally showed up, with steady 10 knots. Once on water, all wanted to race as long as possible, including the Race Committee. There were three races, rather fast, certainly impressive. This time it was Lutz Stengel and Holger Jess who took over the lead. It's getting more and more exciting.
The plan for Thursday is to begin with Annual General Meeting and then continue with three runs again. Let's hope for some good wind!
